CODE OF CONDUCT FOR GYMNASTS

As a club we are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of our gymnasts.  We believe it is important that gymnasts, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others.

Although we have an open door policy at the gym please be aware that gymnasts need to give the coach their full attention at all times when training.

  • Always wait outside the gym with your parent and stay with them until the club coach calls you in for your session.

  • Do not leave the gym at the end of your session until your parent or adult arrives to collect you.  If no-one arrives to collect you tell a coach immediately.

  • Let your coach know (you can send a text to 07384-463405) if you cannot attend your normal session.

  • Make sure you are dressed appropriately in named kit and bring a drink of water to each session – no jewellery should be worn, if you cannot take your earrings out you must get your parent to put some tape over them before you come to gym.

  • Ensure you let your coach know of any changes in personal details, e.g. new address, contact numbers or medical conditions as soon as they change.

  • Let your coach know if you are ill or injured when you come to the session.

  • Remember that coaches reserve the right to suspend a gymnast for dangerous or unacceptable behaviour.

  • Endeavour to establish good communications with other teammates, club officials and coaches.

  • We do not allow you to argue with coaches or officials.

  • Support others gymnasts, any concerns talk to your coach

  • Set good examples by recognising good sportsmanship and applauding the performance of all.

  • Aim to recognise good performance, not just results.

  • Learn the club rules and behave accordingly

  • Ensure you notify the club of any changes in personal details, e.g. new address, contact numbers or medical conditions as soon as they change.

  • Ensure any medical requirements are brought to the attention of your child’s coach, and medication if necessary is brought to the gym.

  • If you would like to speak to your child’s coach please arrange to do so at the beginning of the session.
